With the several months of timeskip, it's interesting how some characters have developed including Oczy. More so, this episode also shows that the church is willing to do what it takes to further their ambition.

I just find it rather interesting on how far the bishop take their goals. Oczy deserves some praise though for his character, seems the show wants him to improve overall.

The comedic timing of Grabowski leaving in amazement of Badeni's intellectual yapping about rainbows only to come back to ask for a cliffnotes version for the kids was absolute gold lmao.

And make no mistake, "I remembered I don't eat much" is shorthand for "I-it's not like I gave you my share of bread because I appreciate you or anything, okay?!"

Ah yes, some people becomes priests because they want to get a job that feed them in a hard time, just to find out that church business is much more serious than they thought.

Badeni's version of eureka moment is quite intense.

Another episode of orb

Honestly, I hate Badeni as much as the Catholic Church at that time. Badeni believes that God chooses only those privileged for worthy knowledge and intellectual aptitude, this kind of thinking is very segregationist, Badeni is truly a despicable character and this is being proven with each episode, the fact that he didn't let Oczy follow his scriptures also made me very angry, who does he think he is? I hate when these types of characters appear who think they are the chosen one and smart for such a thing, He's like Ayanokoji, but an old version, I hate that kind of arrogant character.

Despite my outburst... Badeni seems to be progressing in his research, after all he finally managed to associate the movements of the planets with elliptical movements, I feel that after this research he will start publishing his ideas, which will make the church make Badeni a heretic (in the future)

Oczy seems to be more open to learning, although I don't like him either because he seems like an idiot, I like that he is actually helping people in need and trying to learn to study.

In this episode we also had the Catholic Church beginning its bias in training new inquisitors, man, the church tries so hard to be hateful lol

Overall, it was an episode where I was very angry with almost every character (except Oczy), It was at its usual slow pace, but it was ok. The previous episode still manages to be the best of the orb.

This is my least favorite episode so far.
I can't really explain why, but I'm getting less and less interested in this anime.
This one in particular was more boring than usual, as Jolenta is missing and Oczy is mostly in the background.
There is still a moment I love in this episode, the first scene in the barn!
"It's a good thing that most people can't read or write. [...] Leaving words behind is a heavy responsibility. [...] If the written word was available to everyone, unreliable information would flood the world. It would be a dire situation indeed."
You can't deny it, he does make a good point. That's basically what's happening with the Internet in the present day!

Yes, Oczy is really improving, I like that. When he first appeared he looked like a robot with no opinion of his own, It's great to see him changing little by little, I hope he becomes an intellectual worthy of being mentioned in the future for his achievements in history. I'm enjoying this development

Things are happening. Oczy has started to read and write and wants to write a book about their story and their chosen path. Badeni has finally completed the Heliocentric Theory and Badowski is another interesting person who's also one of the curious ones in the show who wants to learn. He also found out Piast's diary, so things should be interesting there as well.

Can't wait to see where things go from here on out. Nowak is still in the story and I wanna see where his story goes in this show. Badeni is really such a fascinating guy. Almost everyone in this show is a really interesting character.

Oczy learns, Badeni perfects, you can just feel something brewing...

As we near the halfway point of this series, I really think something huge is going to happen soon, especially with Badeni's newfound heliocentric theory. I wonder how the characters like Grabowski and Nowak will factor into this. It was also nice to see Oczy learning to read and write, he's an interesting character, who always strived to help others despite not having resources of his own. Now he's trying to gain some intellect, doing something for himself, which is a step in the right direction for him. Every character has been interesting to watch so far, and that's what makes this show shine every episode.

Wow, this episode had a lot to look foward. We got to know a bit more of Badeni's backstory, and how he got those scars on his face. Not only that, but this episode also made him even more arrogant than before, I think I must not be the only on to be really angry with how Badeni acts, but he is for sure an interesting character.
Him judging Oczy for wanting to learn how to read and write is really low, although they did a good job explaining his version of the facts. Not sure if the fact that he had to kill his own friend has to do with anything of this.

Jolenta teaching Oczy on how to read and write, Jolenta best character I'm afraid.

I really wonder what Badeni was looking for in Oczy, and what his deal with the homeless was.

Anyways, I'm really surprised in how quick the theory was actually finished. I thought we would still need another generation to be able to complete it. But no, it's done. The discovery that the orbits are eliptical and not circular was really well executed, and I'm glad they didn't drag it, because it was really satisfying to be like "Badeni, the observations aren't wrong, the orbits are eliptical" and then he gets to that conclusion, and vomits away his older thoughts.

The episode ends with 2 random inquisitors, and I'm wondering why are they getting screentime, and then right by the end you see that Nowak is going to be the one to train them. I can't wait to see Nowak's reaction when he discovers that Rafal's discovery is still being completed, 10 years later, just like he predicted!

Ahhh, I can't really wait for the next episode, it feels like it's going to be big, since they are hinting that Oczy and Badeni are going to get caught! Also, I'm wondering if they are reintroducing Jolenta later!

Edit: Forgot to mention how Oczy is becoming much more of an interesting character too! It's sad to see the Church filled him with so much trauma, when he's actually a really good person!

Oczy finally taught Badeni something for once.

His classist attitude of Oczy learning to read and write despite being bad at it, threatened his biases and his intellectual superiority. Making him realize his own biases also made him realize Count Piast's own biases in his theoretical assumptions leading to the completion of the heliocentric theory.

I love to see Oczy's character development and good intentions even if he just wants to make up for his past sins. He's able to keep Badeni's ego in check.

Badeni haggling them for materials only to give a very detailed explanation of how rainbows work that Grabowski couldn't understand was pretty funny.

Badeni getting upset about Jolenta teaching Oczy to read and write really upset me. Can’t believe that’s how people viewed reading back then as if it’s something that shouldn’t be available to everyone. Glad he came around in the end. Oczy’s such a pure soul and hearing him yearn to be able to read just struck a chord with me. Something we all take for granted nowadays.

Good to get some more backstory about Badeni in this one. Idk why I assumed his scar had something to do with his eye but I forgot those were separate. I feel like them bringing up that he killed a friend with whom he shared research sets up he and Oczy having a fall out and him killing Oczy or selling him out? God that would break me. Seems likely tho especially with Nowak getting involved now and Oczy learning to read.

Badeni's elitist attitude and the words he said to Ozcy after the effort he had to learn to read and write were certainly annoying. However, he was right in saying that if everyone could read and write, information could become unreliable, something very pertinent today with how easily disinformation spreads (coff! coff! Twitter people). Still, it's easier to control the ignorant masses who can't read or write, but can talk and listen to what the imposes the Church says, for example. At least, knowing how to read, they can look for information on their own in books.

I think Oczy indirectly helped Badeni. Badeni read his diary, and some of what he read gave him some ideas, or maybe he read it out of curiosity and found it interesting. In any case, it seems that the geocentric theory has come to an end.

I can't tell whether Badeni hired the beggar to spy on Oczy or the inquisitors.

I wish we knew the real reson behind increasing the rations. Was it a tsundere way to apologise to Oczy? Or to make Oczy feel less guarded to make it somehow easier to put all the blame on him?

There's no way no one noticed a fella digging a tunnel under the Church's property. xD

So Jolenta taught Oczy to read and write, and when he was explaining what he was going to do to Badeni that poor guy was about to bust a vein from aneurysm. He might be a classist but he's not wrong to be paranoid about Oczy's writings leaving a trail back that would lead to them.

Especially at the end when that hated Inquisitor Nowak appeared, geez that guy is heartless.

Great episode.

But why did the translators translate "Chi" with "Truth"? There's literally no form where "Chi" would mean "Truth". "Chi" means "Knowledge", and considering the story, that's pretty severe difference. Truth can be a politically/subjectively loaded term. "Knowledge" means to be facts-based. So the translation in the anime is pretty much the opposite of what was meant.
If you haven't watched "Fantastic Children", don't talk about "best anime". Thank you.

Oczy's character is really starting to grow on me. In the begining he seemed like just another insecure and scared guy but he's actually so humble and kind. I also believe his attitude might end up helping Badeni's charecter development, as much as i like him i want to see him become less arrogant (even though we can kinda understand where his attitude comes from with more of his backstory). It's sad that Jolenta wasnt present in this episode tho. But oh man, the theory is complete and Nowak is back...

You know what, Badeni's out of line, but he's right. I mean even in the world today where education is easily accessible, misinformation is everywhere, not to say that I agree with not allowing everyone access to education, but that misinformation is rampant.

I did not expect Grabowski to be the one to pick up Piast's book, I wonder how it's going to affect Grabowski and what he is going to do from this point on. Badeni really made himself a badass in his cover story for what happened to his eye lmao.

Oczy's a good boy, I'm sure his diary will end up becoming important for the future, like that ball.

My heart immediately sunk when they revealed those are inquisitor trainees, I dread those fucks and Nowak's going to train those 2 trainees that seems like they will be important characters moving forward. Still waiting for that inevitable Nowak and Jolenta conflict.

Also, they're not introduce building a tunnel into the story and not use it, they're 100% going to use it at some point and I am not looking forward to it.

Badeni has now completed the heliocentric theory, now how will he reveal it to the world without the inquisitors coming for his ass (they will) and having the world and the Church accept it.

Badeni casually explained the problems with social media on this day and age lmao. But seriously, it really puts in context how alot of people thought back then, we now look back and see "our ancestours were evil", but the explanation of why he thinks the common folk shouldnt read or writte, sometimes is used this day about the spreading of ideas or "fake news" or shitty content through mass media or books. Its just the way they thought and society was built.

I wonder if many had discovered the correct heliocentric model of the planets before copernicus but were simply unable to publish or diseminate their ideas without the wealth, labor, and influence necessary to pull it off. Before the printing press, it would be impossible to do so without the approval of the Church.

I kind of hate Badeni's elitist views but I kind of understand his point on misinformation as having some validity very clear in current year but he's overlooking how being able to read gives someone the ability to learn of things elites dont want them to which he himself should very well know and they can be dishing out misinformation to protect their image and there is nothing stopping spoken word from resulting in misinformation as well so his heart is in right place but it's misguided by his big ego.

I wonder what he wrote in Oczy's journal.

Dont forget lost records too. For example the burning of the Library of Alexandria. For all we know there may be documents stashed away in the Vatican's vault to this day.

In a more typical story, I would've expected the "pursuer of truth" character like Badeni to be more selfless and idealistic. It's refreshing how selfish, self-absorbed, dangerous and borderline delusional this man is. I'm worried about Badeni as much as I'm worried about the inquisitors.

And it's wonderful that I can always understand where he's coming from and somewhat agree with him. It's also great that the show does not really characterize him as right or wrong; it just showed me who he is.

Very interested in what exactly he will do with his finished paper. I'm actually not sure what'll happen.

Well, i knew since the first time i listened the opening, that this anime look like something that i should watch, but this happen all the time and i usually don't watch, just one more for the "plan to watch" list in here.

But, i watched the op over and over, and also see some synopsis here or there, and the felling had grow and grow, then yesterday i finally give a watch, and now here I am, after watching all the 10 episodes available until now in this 2 days, something that didn't happen in years with me.

And man this anime is good, of course the early punch that grabs you is not that effective any more, but that make sense, if not the anime had to be scaling the horrors/epicness, and i don't know if they could have the same good story if this was the case, but everything is being so good, the theme about the knowledge hunt in the human nature, and how much limiting knowledge is very good for those in power, something that it's being done those days, but also, how much this hunger is something that spreads, and cannot be contained with ease, just like Rafal said, not that this side, of free knowledge, isn't always losing, but is usually never eradicated.

Also, i just "overcome" (in quotation, because never really goes away) a depression phase in my life right now, about the state of the world, and how numb i fell being alive, and all though is not about this, this anime is talking with this on me so much, I can't really describe.

The only i can say for now (I'm not the best of expressing myself, specially not in my native language, so i tend to write without stopping) is: I can't wait to see more
